Skylos is a seaside settlement at the south-east of Kythnos island. It is located at a distance of approximately 20km from Chora, the capital of Kythnos. It belongs to the Local Community of Dryopida of the Municipality of Kythnos and has 6 residents (results from the 2011 census). It is the 12th settlement of Kythnos in size. According to Kallikratis Plan, Skylos has the Geographical Code 6302000212.
Going towards the south of the island, Skylos is right after Kanala. Although close, there is no coastal road to connect the two settlements so access is possible only via the inland road of Dryopida – Agios Dimitrios.
The settlement has very few houses built along the northern part of the homonymous Skylos Bay. Towards the west, it has a wonderful view of the bay and its beach and towards the east it offers a clear view of the Aegean and Serifos island.
Towards the south of Skylos Bay, the picturesque chapel of Agios Nikolaos is the ideal addition to this characteristic Cycladic scenery.
There are no shops in the area, so if you are heading there, it is best that you carry along some basic provisions (water and snacks).
